Choosing a Theme
Baby's Nursery
A boy – planes, trains, automobiles, baseball, basketball, soccer, frogs, turtles, hot air balloons….we talked about all the obvious things, and decided to do the most obvious: a teddy bear and “baby” theme. My daughter wanted the room to be strictly “baby” since our little guy was going to move to another room when he graduated from the crib, and she really wasn’t into all the “theme” stuff like Noah’s Ark and such. But, she felt that teddy bears were timeless, and there is nothing more precious that pictures of babies sleeping. I started searching on the Internet, and I waited for a sale at art.com. The possibilities were endless, but we finally chose the pictures that would adorn the nursery. Since the room had taupe carpet and light taupe walls, she decided to decorate in shades of cream, taupe and blue. She also decided on a nursery theme early enough in her pregnancy that the baby showers were planned around teddy bears, and the colors could be listed on the shower invitations. The “big” family and old-friend shower had the theme of teddy bears and storybooks, with the hope that our new baby would have a “storybook” life. What a wonderful thought….
We still had lots to do, so we were off to find “just the right” fabrics for the crib set…
